I am secretly-and kind of inexplicably-obsessed with Cheryl Cole (nee. Tweedy, I feel I should say that because I think she should drop her ex-hubby's name because he's basically the Tiger Woods of soccer/an asshole). I only have a couple of her songs in my iPod ("Promise This" and "The Flood" from Messy Little Raindrops) and I've only heard about a handful of her recordings, but I just love her "Chav-chic" style, her Miranda Kerr-esque looks and her adorably incomprehensible Geordie accent. 

Cheryl's appeal goes beyond just her image, she possesses a distinctive vocal and pretty legit dance skills. Her latest single "Ghetto Baby" was written by the amazing Lana Del Rey and it's basically the greatest 2 minutes and 52 seconds I've ever heard (CLICK ON OVA, GHETTO BABY).

So here's to Cheryl Cole, reminding us that the more talented UK acts tend to stay across the pond as opposed to invading the States with mediocre vocals and no dance skills.
