ok but he's right

still in a total state of socialism and it's clear things are being done out of pettiness and spite. I think that woman really wanted allLLLLL of the power...why? I have no idea; getting blamed for absolutely everything in the entire world doesn't seem like a very fun job.

Maybe becoming a führer was her plan all along? I think most people falsely believe femaleness is automatically devoid of such desires...I've heard some say this is about safety maybe because she's a mother? Every single mother on earth is perfect and knows exactly what to do all the time, right?

There is no safety in poverty however. Being poor is actually the most dangerous thing to be in America. People who have nothing to lose will destroy others and then themselves...as we can see in the streets across the nation, whether it's being reported or not.

So if the Indian cop and her mush-mouthed invalid gets it, what does that mean for us normal, God-fearing humans? Everything the so-called conspiracy theorists have stated has turned out to be either true or plausible (which is doing WONDERSSS for my sleep cycle like who needs to conjure up a nightmare when you can click and scroll?!). Moreover, it's gotten to the point where too many people are approaching things with their eyes wide open...because they didn't die and they know as long as they don't go to the hospital they won't die.

I can see this scenario: "Well I think at this point we have done more than enough to ensure the safety of people against the virus and the only masks I want to see are for Halloween!" Why? Because it's just before the cure--I mean election--so why not look like you actually did something to influence people's decisions at the polls...my pessimistic, apathetic guess is that we won't have a final decision until next year anyway...and by then everything will be burned away.

takes me back

It's weird how certain pieces still connect me to strong memories. I got this dress in La Jolla, California in 2016 and I remember the girl who helped me pick it out was so pleasant and professional...I remember how her manners were in such stark contrast to the eurotrash lady who rushed me out of her store that I visited just a moment before as I was looking for souvenirs of my first trip to California (the flimsy bralette I purchased in haste to prove I wasn't some black lady coming to steal I ended up wearing once and discarding a short time after). The luxe fabric still makes me feel like I'm on vacation even though I can't see that happening anytime soon.

the new chips and dip

Imagine if the propaganda was about HEALTH instead of safety?

They could take away everyone's liberty to eat FDA approved mutton and lard for breakfast, lunch and dinner and instead have limited food selections designed to boost the immunity against viruses and other health issues. For example, instead of high fructose corn syrup infused chips, we could be forced to eat celery sticks and sliced cucumbers; instead of saturated fat infused dip, a side of almond butter. Instead of thinking a mask would guarantee protection against health deterrents and possibly grant immortality, the government could encourage citizens to take personal responsibility for changing health-related habits so they become a stronger individual.

...but I don't want to start spreading misinformation.

they don't deserve it anyway

The other day I was talking to an Uber driver that inquired about my hat visor and told me about how everyone's Lord and Savior Dr. Fraudci was now telling people to wear goggles along with their masks. He said that in any type of service showing a friendly/smiling face is a part of good customer service and that would be difficult if goggles were mandated along with masks. This is true, but I couldn't help but think of how the service industry has pretty much deleted itself over the past decade or so--like, the ENTIRE service industry; it's to the point that most people don't even know what good service is anymore.

The fact that so many customer service oriented businesses were shut down permanently is unfortunate, but like...were they really THAT great to begin with? Part of it is because technology and A.I. has taken over to the point where proper, professional human contact is a foreign concept to many...some service people don't even understand how to properly greet a customer or who their customer even is and how to meet their needs. It's actually really sad that it took a whole government-mandated shutdown and faux socialism (well, the beginnings of real socialism tbh, communism-lite maybe? Lol) for people to realize that little things like showing a welcoming facial expression are an ESSENTIAL part of the human experience.

Maybe that's why more and more people are becoming so hostile towards one another? I mean, I knew I was ahead of the game with the visor hat, but that has brought on hostile behavior from some who are literally LOOKING to create even more conflict instead of simply providing the service they are supposed to provide and then closing their mouth and minding their gotdamn business. That's a huge part of it too: people always opening their mouths to do and say things they shouldn't when it simply isn't their place or their business.

We have entered the surveillance/police state and it's full on; there are people with ankle monitors on them and they didn't commit a crime, blatant restrictions on people's movements withing the country they live and pay taxes in, also censorship under the guise of not spreading "misinformation" if it misrepresents a more widely accepted narrative--if that's not policing, I don't know what is. All of this gives unqualified people power they simply shouldn't have. Why am I being interrogated by a random masked service person about my whereabouts and contact with others? What good does that do except make me even more terrified that my own government might try and arrest or kill me for going about my business? Is this the "new normal" that all these fools with no education or critical thinking skills are looking for? Why do people insist on thinking because they are in some sort of service industry they now have all this extra authority that supersedes giving good service? Why are alleged scientists and doctors now running the world even when some of them specifically say they have no idea what they are doing (disguised in phrases that include the words, "re-evaluate" or "after doing more research")?? I know I'm not the only one asking these questions and seeing the parallels in the many conflicts that have been created by everything BUT this "novel" flu the past several months.

I just want things to go back to a simpler time; you walk in to a place of service, whatever that may be, and you're greeted with a smile, a friendly clearly-heard greeting and someone makes you feel comfortable while in their establishment so you'll want to come back...but regardless of whatever pathogens are floating in the air that's simply too much to ask. However, given that society as a whole is rapidly deteriorating, there aren't too many people who would deserve good service anyway.

safety in numbers

Honestly, masks are for ugly people...like that dumbass bus driver that TRIED IT telling me to wear one while I was already covering my ENTIRE FACE IN THICK PLASTIC as you can see here (also, I wasn't even getting on his bus, but he had the right to refuse me a ride so he should have just kept rolling instead of attempting to argue with me as I quickly grabbed a specific bus pamphlet I needed, said 'thank you' and walked away. These days, GROWN MEN want to pick fights with women over anything just to get attention. I should have just directed him to the unemployment line everyone seems to think is the answer via a phone call to his superior for harassment and verbal assault (which it wasn't, but if Susan Cooper can do it, SO CAN I). It's funny because the TSA wears the exact same thing and so do medical professionals (along with masks in acute settings, which obviously most of these fools are not in, but according to them, breathing regular air will now kill them). Moreover, I'm almost certain a piece of cloth handcrafted in your living room will do nothing to keep the "deadliest virus ever in the entire universe since the beginning of time" from infecting you. People have lost their damn minds and I'm just now finding out that the "cure" for all the madness is some sort of injection that might not ever come or might not even be completely effective. Where are the real men with guns already? Are real men even a thing anymore or did they all die off from fear of the flu? We're all waiting.

I think I'm going to be wearing boots in the summer heat more often; I feel like it gives off strong conceal/carry vibes, which is important...for reasons.

an event

I got all ready to run errands around town and ended up walking around for almost an hour doing nothing because everything was closed at some random early hour or had been shut down completely...at least I didn't have to wear a mask.

2017 lookback and lookbook

VEDA leather vest; Fendi shearling sneakers

dress by Edit and Gucci loafers

Gianvito Rossi boots and Kate Spade bag strap

jumpsuit by Only Hearts; B&O Play headphones; visor by Brixton

Isabel Marant boots

Aquazurra boots (charms are my own)

Filson hat; Vetements dress

2017 was...interesting to say the least.

It was just a lot right from the start...and all the way to the end. All the linear parts of my life, primarily work, remained stable while other things would just...happen.

The list of unfortunate events is too long for my liking and I'd rather not recount any of them here, but I survived...not all of my clothing did--that Acne leather jacket has since been replaced for example along with many other items lost in said unfortunate events. Despite what I tend to post on this blog, I have never been truly materialistic. I do not attach my worth or any real meaning on to things like I do with people. 2017 really proved to me that material things of good quality are still replaceable, but good people are hard to find.

I did what I could to deal with it all; I took a couple trips to step away (and see Britney Spears! Will share later of course) and to reflect and recoup. I did this so often that I don't have any real 2018 resolutions because I was able to find my resolve in all those moments of being knocked around a bit. There's something special about finding a way to settle down after disruption. Yes, I did cry; yes, I did scream at people; yes, I did stay in bed longer than my usual sloth self...but I'm not drained, or defeated.

Finally, I've come to believe that the saying 'life goes on' doesn't really become apparent until you have watched it wither away right in front of you. However, watching death front and center doesn't make me afraid, it makes me even more ready to live.

Happy New Year!

season of the onesie

Okay so it's finally 20 degrees outside (YESSS!) so it's time to cover myself in cashmere from head to toe. My birthday month is coming soon so if this Chinti and Parker jumpsuit is still available, I'll probably get it in the grey--I can't help myself honestly and when you find a piece you want to wear literally every waking moment, buy it twice.

I feel like onesies have been a thing for a minute now as a response to the whole athleisure trend...it's like instead of pretending you're so casually active and sporty or whatever why not just straight up dress like a large baby who can't walk yet?! Sounds like a plan, a very cozy, lazy ass plan.

new space...again

...the plumbing isn't the best...the laundry room is literally built wrong....the kitchen is dated...the bedroom is a bit tight...the alarm goes off at random times...

HOWEVER, the lighting is better, the living room is so spacious, the ceilings are higher than I expected, the location is perfect, the furniture it came with is awesome, there is a walk in closet to make up for the lack of storage space and the noise has yet to be an issue.

There's a 75 percent chance that I'll resign and stay here another year...and a 25 percent chance I'll get annoyed and look for another property to inhabit...but so far even my half-eaten breakfast looks bougie in this new space (I mean the lighting is completely unedited because it just flows into the room, it's so nice).

I mean moving is so annoying and this is my forth space in two years so I'm exhausted and I'm truly trying to stabilize my life so I can do other things and quit worrying about taking a whole month off just to pack and remove all the junk I've accumulated from online shopping.

It's not fully decorated yet, but when it is I'm hoping my re-signing chances go up at least 5 percent.

fish crave

East err

...honestly, Easter in March is kind of awkward to me. I still prayed a bit, but kept my sloth Sunday in tact this year.

unburied

Some time last month I had an early morning insomnia session prompted by my brain remembering that I still had an active instagram account and I wanted to get rid of it...although not really because nothing Facebook adjacent ever really dies now does it?

Anyway, I was reminded of my lesser self from four years ago...
I loved smoothies...I still need to get a blender and make some of these...also, serious nail art.
I wore sneakers and leggings a lot. I think that was a thing back then and probably still now, except with ugly socks.
I also wore make up just to wear it...it made me feel less poor and depressed.
Fringe. So much fringe in my life.
I don't care for it at all anymore, but back then I was all about the "arm party"
I really, really loved being outside....mainly because it wasn't inside.

...digging into the past is always a fascinating activity.
