this is my second batch

...of break and bake frosted sugar cookies. I actually don't have much of a sweet tooth, but they're still a nice way to end my day :)

it won't ever happen again

Because of what I've seen going on in other states, I assumed grocers were no longer allowing reusable bags in stores so I have been using the tiny plastic ones that they provide, which are super ghetto and tear easily--ANYTHING to be a big hero and save lives that could be lost in the dumpster fire this country has become, right? But let me tell you, I am never ever doing this again, it was so annoying and so stupid and I guarantee that little greta girl that was calling everyone out about climate change (who is now apparently helping run the country along with the other "Dr.s" and "scientists") would not be too happy about all this excessive plastic. I could just buy less groceries, but when "they" tell you not to leave your house and you're also terrified of crazy people with guns walking around because they also have been told not to leave their homes, well, you don't leave until the food runs out and that basically inflates my grocery list...at least I can still afford to buy the food.

Also, it's nice that mass transit is back up and running for now, I choose to take it when I can because I thought reducing my carbon footprint was the move... although, given all the latex gloves I see thrown on the ground and the aforementioned overuse of plastic bags (read: PPE), maybe not so much anymore.  It does get me a little anxious when the bus pulls up and my mask is not perfectly in place bc I'm scared the driver will refuse to let me on or pass me because I literally forget that we are now living in a dystopia and I have to restrict myself from breathing in basic American air even when I've been sitting at the bus stop for several minutes all by myself. Even one of the bus drivers forgot and held us up at least five minutes (which is an eternity if you have frozen goods on you and you just want to get home and put them away and be out of the alleged "rona air") as he was searching frantically for a mask to put on before he got in the driver's seat that has been sectioned off away from passengers by at least 15 feet.

I actually went out and bought stuff specifically for display this time, I feel like that's another level for me truly. With this decor idea I had a vision of levity and peacefulness. I love pink pastels and florals because they always look so pleasant and perfect in any setting. Every time I look at the simple details of this display, it really does give me a sense of calm. The little sheep is literally one of the cutest things I've ever seen; I remember waking up early just to go back and buy it because I was scared someone else would take it during the holiday sale rush.

A note on the advent calendar, it's the Dr. Barbara Sturm one and her products are actually legit; I ended up using all of them and even repurchased some.

first attempt

This was supposed to be an entertainment console for a television...then I decided I didn't like television anymore.

I still set it up because I had nothing to do during that one strange polar vortex (does anyone remember that? Remember how it shut things down, but like, not the whole economy). I figured I could use it in my first attempt to decorate my apartment. I'm not necessarily a minimalist when it comes to interior design, but because I move so often I don't see the point in personalizing my space if I'm going to leave it behind quickly.

I thought the Net a porter beauty box was so chic looking that it was worthy of being put on display until I figured out what I really wanted to do with this table. I basically created a shrine to skincare, reminding myself to open up a new little drawer after I'd used up whatever was in the previous one. It definitely wasn't the most creative decor, but at least it looked nice enough to keep around until I moved out again.

soapy and scented

...this year's art festival was more than about grabbing an elephant ear.

I decided to invest in the beauty section of the booths and picked up several soaps with coconut, olive oil, peppermint and other natural/holistic body things that seemed worth trying out.

The soaps seem like something to try just for some added moisture in the shower (regular soap really dries out my skin especially in the winter) and the candle I just wanted to try because I was intrigued by the idea of filling the air with the smell of wine.

victoria was my valentine....

...as corny as it sounds, these chocolate-covered macaroons from Victoria's Secret were so good it made me grateful I am single so I don't have to share.
