new space...again

...the plumbing isn't the best...the laundry room is literally built wrong....the kitchen is dated...the bedroom is a bit tight...the alarm goes off at random times...

HOWEVER, the lighting is better, the living room is so spacious, the ceilings are higher than I expected, the location is perfect, the furniture it came with is awesome, there is a walk in closet to make up for the lack of storage space and the noise has yet to be an issue.

There's a 75 percent chance that I'll resign and stay here another year...and a 25 percent chance I'll get annoyed and look for another property to inhabit...but so far even my half-eaten breakfast looks bougie in this new space (I mean the lighting is completely unedited because it just flows into the room, it's so nice).

I mean moving is so annoying and this is my forth space in two years so I'm exhausted and I'm truly trying to stabilize my life so I can do other things and quit worrying about taking a whole month off just to pack and remove all the junk I've accumulated from online shopping.

It's not fully decorated yet, but when it is I'm hoping my re-signing chances go up at least 5 percent.

soapy and scented

...this year's art festival was more than about grabbing an elephant ear.

I decided to invest in the beauty section of the booths and picked up several soaps with coconut, olive oil, peppermint and other natural/holistic body things that seemed worth trying out.

The soaps seem like something to try just for some added moisture in the shower (regular soap really dries out my skin especially in the winter) and the candle I just wanted to try because I was intrigued by the idea of filling the air with the smell of wine.

domme conscious

...I wasn't joking about my subconscious desires projecting onto that Adam Lippes sweater.

This shearling rug I found on Amazon has got to be one of the best purchases I've ever made like, EVER.
I feel so bougie and carefree every time my feet touch the floor when I wake up, I mean, look at all this plush goodness...
...the Net-a-porter sale is still on and I'm tempted to figure out how to block their website from my computer, but at least my fluffy desires have been directly satiated.

My holy day

It started with me waking up later than I wanted (ugh, sloth problems), but I got it together and managed to get a ride to my family home to deliver gifts for my parents, eat free food and hang out with my family...
...I took the time to make some cards for them, my mother seemed delighted to actually read it...

...while my dad just wanted to get to the gift (I am the same way actually).

...here is my mother styling the cashmere scarf I got her.

...here I am being festive with my mother and sister.
It's a tradition to have my younger sister try on one of my jackets every now and then just to keep her on the right bougie path--I'm such a good influence.

...she also put this lovely collage together on her Instagram.

Finally, my little x-mas gift to myself; these Aquazurra shearling fringe boots that I will wear like fancy-shmancy Uggs for the rest of the season.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

from the barn

I've never even been to Pottery Barn...like, I thought it was a place where they made and sold pottery and you could go there and take a pottery class like I did in elementary school...? Really I did. I'll take the linen/silk comforters though--perfect for deep winter when I'm trying to save on my heat bill.

coco lit

...my mom lights candles all the time and I didn't really get it until I decided I wanted my apartment to smell like coconut oil. There's literally nothing is more awesome than the aromatic relief of the endless cure-all...it's my fourth candle so far and the first sign I'm becoming a cliché beauty vlogger.

death aesthetics and perpetual basicness

Undertaker chic: Vetements sweater, Acne boots, Simone Rocha bag and Gap wool hat
I finally got my ootd area together (I actually have one since my apartment is no longer a corner inside of a box)...I wear the same thing basically everyday since I still can't bring myself to set up my closet. If I had done so I would realize I could use some not-so-basic things in my wardrobe--lookit what these children around me are wearing tho:

...I feel like I'm too basic for maroon wetlook leggings and white platform sneakers....but they're so coooool, right? I'll never get on this level.
...however, I did elevate my vanity area; it's pretty simple, but still leagues cuter than what I had before and it makes me want to drag my ass out of bed a little faster for work on Mondays.
In other random wannabe fashion blogger news: The fur bags are being swapped out; I actually don't like the Simone Rocha one nearly as much as the Alice and Olivia one and I can't wait to upgrade to a Givenchy one (I'm saving up like a wise shopaholic should).
...and more fur is being added to the decor because this particular shearling rug was too shaggy to pass up and obviously I'm a Tumblr scrolling basic bitch.

slight decor

from Home Goods
I've never been much for decoration, but this fruit-shaped bowl thingy (specifically for butter or syrup) was too cute to pass up...and the clear organizer was an obvious choice given my recent make up binge.

I did....things...

...I woke up in the AM; this has been a running trend with me. I obviously cannot maintain this state without caffeine or multiple naps--I chose a raspberry/mocha frozen latte, it tasted very sophisticated (like dark chocolate over fruit).
...I wore these velvet ballet flats again; I think I'm obsessed with them--or maybe it just seems like it because they were the only pair I was able to dig up from the still unpacked bags...
...I'm also obsessed with Sally's gel manicure line; I love how they have a selection of nude tones for actual black people.
...it's still hot so I've been consuming a lot of pineapple fruit bars--like, a lot--they're so delicious I'll probably still be eating them in the winter time...
...finally, I also consumed even more make up--I just thought it was a little embarrassing that I hadn't ever bought a MAC lipstick before...lowkey, I really don't even own enough make up to fill a small shelf so my guilt is minimal.

Video | Is this the dream? (part two)

I figured out how to do like, EVERYTHING yesterday...I uploaded a video, the one I said I would upload about my apartment (high fucking five for not procrastinating like I do with literally everything else) and I created an incredible outro (lol) in Garageband, which is my new favorite Mac thingy.

I was so proud of myself I didn't even stress when a thunderstorm took the power out of my fully electric apartment. ENJOY.

Is this the dream?

...I don't know yet, but the space looks just as nice as the first time I saw it and I'm excited to savor the upgrade (my walk-in closet is like...all that matters).

This shot is from my final move in day; I have also shot a video of the "before" showing the whole layout of my least embarrassing living situation...stay tuned.

I like the company...

...there's a Noodles and Company near me and the Thai hot pot is my current fave from them; I'm all about the meats and the greens and just all their savory friends hanging out in a mildly spicy bowl.

on the day He rose...

...the latest knitwear from 3.1 Phillip Lim.

One the day He rose I had to seek caffeine to even get through the day...and now I'm crashing so I'll be brief.

I decided to dress in head to toe fuzziness to go wait for the bus that never came because I forgot that He had risen on this day, but the bus people did not...it took me a full 25 minutes of waiting to remember.

...however a few restaurants in the area and CVS of course did not care too much about Jesus coming back to life. I was able to take a peek at the spring offerings of one local boutique and also pick up some sushi cuisine at a restaurant I hadn't eaten at before.

I came back and finally got on my nail art kick again...mostly the organizing and photography stuff (stay tuned!).

I hope your Easter was just as exciting.

prepped and craved

...the last meal prep; I was craving some BBQ chicken and rice so that's what I put together along with some simple veggies.
...on tonight, garlic bread sticks, pasta with organic cheddar cheese. The cheese was white, which I wasn't expecting and it makes me wonder why the other cheddar cheeses are orange.
...FROYO FOREVER. Mostly taro with some frozen strawberries and cheesecake bits along with my first macaroon ever (it was actually kinda gross, but it looked so pretty). It was the only reason I left my apartment today.

Get tha Preppin'

...the last meal prep: BBQ chicken, spiced roasted peppers, asparagus (my new fave veggie), with a side of rice.
...I decided to do mashed potatoes this time. I cooked some russet potatoes in chicken broth for about 40 minutes and then mashed them with butter and spices.
...I put it together with the latest meal prep of carrots, chicken and asparagus. As you can see there is gravy involved (by Campbells), which I got in a can, but totally forgot that I didn't have a can opener so I couldn't put gravy on all of them, which was a little disheartening because gravy soooo guuuuud.

Manly Ugly Eating

The height of my Sunday productivity was spent slaving away in my tiny kitchen for about two hours, which included Googling some cooking stuff, finding out my stove is even shittier than I thought, and setting off the smoke alarm...but in the end, I accomplished meal prep number two.
Seasoned baked russet potatoes, seasoned rotisserie chicken, steamed carrots, sauteed red peppers and onions.
I've always been more of a meat and potatoes kind of gal and after all of my struggling I can definitely say this tasted way better than the picture looks.

The Meal Prep Step

I'm so proud of myself for getting it together and finally attempting to cut down on my eating out.

I'm going to try and make these meal prep things a little different every week. Here I put together five separate meal portions of long grain white rice prepared in chicken stock and spices with pan roasted red peppers and onions, chicken and a side of cauliflower.

I don't really care if this shot (from a tupperware container) is not pretty-blog-ish or whatever, this is one full, delicious step in the right direction--YAY ME.

Barack Obama Got Me New Shoes!

Since racist white people (sometimes referred to as conservatives*) want to overly attribute this nation's shortcomings to Obama, I figured I should give him completely undeserved credit for my newest purchase.
After I fulfilled my civic duty, I headed over to Urban Outfitters to see if the top item on my wants list had gone on sale since I tried them on a month ago. Because I voted, to make sure that Mormon demon and his evil minions didn't take office I got 20 percent off my purchase (soon to be delivered).

When I returned, I watched the POTUS rack up electoral votes...the intensity almost stopped my heart. There was a moment when he was down 9 electoral votes and the NBC news anchors were starting to sound nervous (although mostly objective, it's clear NBC leans a bit more left than right). As the red/blue map turned more red than blue, I felt my mouth get dry and my guts start to churn (WHY YOU GOTTA MAKE ERRYBODY WAIT OHIO???)...I had to change the channel to Sons of Anarchy to distract myself. When I flipped back, the local news had come on and apparently 45 percent of Michiganders were no longer here for the black guy plus, certain proposals that should have passed did not, which I also found disturbing...

I flipped back about an hour later to see that Obama had defeated that rich white dude 274 to 203.

I guess I won't have to move to Canada after all.
