same energy

So I'm still down with the Mormon-chic vibe and I think I may have found a reincarnation of this dress that I've never forgotten about:

https://64.media.tumblr.com/2212897e198a744d17d7b99ab0e8ee8e/e4f9f903481aaf9a-4b/s1280x1920/5f80714de1d2df3290bf7748c871dd8311892702.jpg

The Free People Edie dress is serving modest hotness (with a boho flare of course). It looks like the type of Orthodox Mormon garb the traveling cult types would wear in the summer; specifically the prepubescent girls who were a couple years too young to be married--Emma Hale Smith is SHAKING.

takes me back

It's weird how certain pieces still connect me to strong memories. I got this dress in La Jolla, California in 2016 and I remember the girl who helped me pick it out was so pleasant and professional...I remember how her manners were in such stark contrast to the eurotrash lady who rushed me out of her store that I visited just a moment before as I was looking for souvenirs of my first trip to California (the flimsy bralette I purchased in haste to prove I wasn't some black lady coming to steal I ended up wearing once and discarding a short time after). The luxe fabric still makes me feel like I'm on vacation even though I can't see that happening anytime soon.

Chanel who? I don't know her

https://64.media.tumblr.com/e8077b807d033cd303430f9fe5a8a8ec/b2aff44fbb0f6ea3-3a/s1280x1920/770caa020b3686f22a86dc9a43164ed485acea8f.jpg
I'm still not completely sold on the hourglass, but along with the croc version I showed on here previously, this version is another good reason to look into an investment in this uniquely shaped bag. Just the combination of the plush leather quilting with the sharp angles, plus the phantom colorway--it's all too much to handle.

I get why some people don't see it for the brand because Demna really does lowkey recreate the mainstay styles of other popular brands; examples include the cloud clutch, which emulates Bottega's ubiquitous dumpling-looking bag, the ville totes that look like LV almond bags, and the quilted bags are reminiscent of Chanel (well along with pretty much all quilted bags, to be fair). It makes me realize brand loyalty is a thing (as opposed to label whoring) because people really will get upset if they think one brand is more superior than another and is being "ripped off" despite the fact that a trend is a trend no matter who started it. Personally, I don't care for Chanel bags; I've just never found them that exciting, maybe because literally everyone has one because yOU caN't Go WronG with a basic quilted Chanel *basic bitch "influencer" voice*.

I don't know the size of this bag, it looks like a small, but it could be an extra small. I would DIE if it came in that barbie pink I've seen with the city bag and the croc embossed version--if that happened I might have to break the bank and get it before inflation really sets in.

breaking in heat

I've finally figured out that the perfect way to break in stiff leather boots is to wear them when it's over 90 degrees outside. I'm so happy I can finally walk around in these Ganni cowboy boots blister-free because I've been wanting to conform to the new 'shoot first ask questions later' vibe that's been going around lately.

A little ice goes a long way

The chain cost more than the bag (a Kate Spade piece I got on clearance at Marshalls), but it's literally my new obsession and will definitely be one of many 😎

didn't know she had it in her

Miss Jessica SNAPPED.

Monochrome is definitely the move this spring/summer season. I've been totally here for power pink recently, it's such a happy, energetic color and this look really made me smile. The little tiara is my edit, she obviously takes the crown for best transition from mediocre pop princess to affordable fashion mogul. Bravo!

I'm really enjoying the hands free freedom of the fanny pack and even though this MCM selection is the only one I own, it's still the only freedom I'm going to enjoy.

chill uniform

image
Belstaff shearling jacket; Balenciaga triangle square duffle; Aquazurra boots; Deadwood leather pants

It's finally WINTER-winter outside (never forget that warmth on Christmas) so I had to pull out the standard skins to keep my bony ass warm.

The bag was a surprise find in an online sale and I haven't stopped wearing it, the size is perfect and that red interior is everything. The funny thing is that I originally wanted this style duffle in white and the triangle version in black, but after the white version sold out, I ended up getting the triangle version in white and the square version in black--same difference I guess.

A note on the pants: they are sustainable fashion. I had never heard of Deadwood before until I was looking for some leather pants to replace a really old pair that finally crapped out on me (they split at the crotch as I was getting into a car, so embarrassing!) and I found these online. They are so comfortable and surprisingly substantial considering the leather is supposed to be 'scraps'. I feel really good about investing in something that is supposed to help the environment especially after seeing all those incinerated koala bears.

the slouch

I couldn't help but feel like this Balenciaga shearling has a bit of a Kim K. influence I mean, she's been having trouble pulling her jackets up over her shoulders lately...

I'm living for this slouchy styling; maybe because you constantly look like you have somewhere to be and you simply can't be bothered to put your clothes on all the way or fully take them off...? I don't know exactly, but there's a casual sense of urgency that appeals to my sloth-like nature.
