takes me back

It's weird how certain pieces still connect me to strong memories. I got this dress in La Jolla, California in 2016 and I remember the girl who helped me pick it out was so pleasant and professional...I remember how her manners were in such stark contrast to the eurotrash lady who rushed me out of her store that I visited just a moment before as I was looking for souvenirs of my first trip to California (the flimsy bralette I purchased in haste to prove I wasn't some black lady coming to steal I ended up wearing once and discarding a short time after). The luxe fabric still makes me feel like I'm on vacation even though I can't see that happening anytime soon.

it's still early...

...and the snow is still a thing, but I decided I should pick up those shearling lined Birks I'd been lusting after for a while now--so cozy and homeless chic. I'll definitely be wearing them with um...everything.

They are still available on Amazon.com and just note that they do fit a whole size small due to the lining.

...so because this is still sort of a fashion/style blog, I figured I should finally post some of my recent style snaps taken on my days off from work. Moving, working and trying to catch up on an increasingly busier life has cut into my blogging time, but who cares, that just means I'll have more to blog about, right?  All of these looks, ranging from whimsical to minimalist (well, I think), were thrown together (read: meticulously selected) during the times I decided to leave my apartment to do more than just take out the trash.

As you can see, I'm still obsessed with some pieces and some are totally new (to be reviewed at a later date), but everything is basically a combination of my new luxe minimalism style philosophy and lack of fucks to give.

Yay fashuuun.

Slightly giving a fuck...

Birks are the ultimate statement of function over fashion; in fact, at one point they were called "lesbian shoes" just to emphasize their strikingly utilitarian and unfashionable look commonly associated with unattractive, vagina-bearing homosexuals.

I decided to get them in a non-generic color for spring to offset the inherent IDGAF nature of the design however, I'm pretty sure my styling reversed all of that...
image
...at least I used a classic ketchup and mustard palette.

They are way more comfortable than the Buffalo ones seen here and will definitely be a spring wardrobe staple most likely with cuter, heterosexual sock detail.
