but first, my thighs

I know I said I wanted to devote more time to the beauty section of this blog and I promise I will get on to that, but I urgently need to share the wonderful new addition to my thigh high collection--it will absolutely be the last pair of thigh highs so this is like, a big fucking deal, okay.

I got a pair of thigh highs for the denim wearing occasions; they are the ones I already had my eye on from Mr. Margiela:

image
Shopbop had them on sale for 40 percent off plus their Black Friday/Cyber Monday 25 percent off so they went from a whole lotta money to not so much money so yay for my bank account (Net-a-porter currently has them 30 percent off).
They have the traditional design with all the Margiela-esque trappings: modest, 3. 25 inch cylindrical heel, slightly square toe and relaxed fit shaft.
image
I got them in a size 40 (same as my other Margiela pair) and I would say they run true to the standard vanity sizing as I am really a size 10.5. The padded footbed is very comfortable and I appreciate the practical toe space.
image
I'm also pleased they have a zipper at the ankle as many of the thigh high boots I've seen are a pull on style, which can be problematic when taking them off; these ones slip on and off with ease.
image
The fabrication is of superior quality as expected; all leather everything.
image
...my only issue is that the sole/heel will require some scuffing and will not be ideal for any icy or snowy surfaces that I'm sure to experience in the coming months.

image
However, the thick, supple leather makes them perfect for chilly, pre-snowfall days; they truly substitute as pants.
image
Here's how they compare to my Hilohs. They are about two inches taller with the shaft being slightly raised in the front (shaft is apprx. 30 inches). So I guess if you wanted true, heavy duty thigh high boots, go for the Margielas, but if you just wanted an early fall/late summer thigh high, the light-weight Acne Studios ones are more suited.
image
My ever-present holiday sweater just covers my crotch so you can get an idea of how high up the boots go (I'm 5'10'' so they're almost my inseam). As you can see, the shaft is baggy enough so I can wear them with regular denim (I was just too lazy to find some for this picture).

I think I can officially say this style mission is accomplished. I'm so beyond satisfied with this purchase and will be wearing the shit out of them probably pants-free whenever possible.

Three Angles of Red Velvet

From the front...

...from the back...

...and from the side.

I'm convinced that a thigh high serving of red velvet can greatly improve my health....and make spring a lot more interesting.
