it's now too hot...also so many questions

I think I was just too depressed to even bring myself to edit these months ago or maybe too anxious? I would get dressed, go outside then be all worn out just from that, take a nap, wake up, eat, sleep again eventually and rinse repeat and basically forget that I even took the photos to post in the first place...

I really REALLY love this Acne Studios shearling, it is an absolute DREAM. I went back and forth on whether to buy it in Net a porters final days of their last sale and decided it would be a nice upgrade from the navy blue velocite one I've had for several years now. Speaking of Net a porter sales--WHERE IS IT??? I've been watching videos about how the luxury fashion industry is adapting to the shutdown and it seems it also could mean certain brands might be too broke for sales? Seasonal sales are going on right now to encourage people to start buying again (as we should), but Net a porter is stalling a bit. It could also be a fear-based action because they wouldn't be able to handle the increase of orders given that less people are employed at their order fulfillment areas now. Maybe production has stopped on so many new season items that the fear is that if there is a sale and everything sells out, nothing will be left? It could be all of those things combined as this shutdown has disrupted such an intrinsic balance in the world economy.

Furthermore, the idea of seasonless fashion is intriguing to me...does this mean a new mentality when it comes to consumerism? Will having less start to mean more? Or maybe the secondhand market will now take on an elevated platform...or even the counterfeit market? Maybe less cycles of new looks but more new looks within each cycle? If luxury fashion becomes scarce, will the price go up even more? Will trendy fashion suddenly cease to exist altogether as that middle market spender realizes it's just a bunch of needless crap anyway??

I mean, it's HUMAN to want to feel and look better because it appeals to our psychological need to fit in or belong or be accepted. People want THINGS because of the transformative power in material possessions. When you are in possession of something of value, YOU have value inherently....that's what all those rappers from 'da hood' keep going on and on about.

...and now we are living in an age where it's okay to tell someone they are 'non-essential'...as in they don't have any value or as much value as another person.

Given all of that, I think Chanel made the right move to increase their bag prices. Prices are based on demand and scarcity...but mostly demand...will people now start demanding to be considered valuable hence the consumerism for luxury fashion will ramp up even more...maybe??

The economic analysis of the fashion during the 2008 crash was pretty clear cut and there weren't nearly as many questions, but now we have power-hungry politicians thrown in, a lot of fear and confusion and inevitably, growing anger making it even more difficult to see any real answers.

first day out

I heard they're only letting people out for one hour a day some places...that's actually a bit much for me considering I stay in sloth mode 24/7.

Anyway, a brisk walk down the block and back was all I needed, mostly to break in these MM6 sock sneakers I've only worn once before and see how the only piece of knitwear I've bought in the past five years holds up against the chill. Coach 1941 has really been killing it lately and this quirky cardigan did not disappoint; I'll be waiting patiently for any further corona sales from them.

blush fixation

First of all, JUICY COUTURE IS OUT HERE SCAMMING.

I tried a grand total of four fucking timesss to get their Norwood Blush Leather Crossbody Bag and every single time the order was cancelled YET IT REMAINS LISTED ON THE SITE. It's beyond irritating because I've never had this happen with any other online shopping site I've ordered from. It just speaks to the relatively insolvent nature of the company (who has sales every other day by the way--it's no wonder they can't keep up with their own inventory, they're trying so hard to get rid of it).

The positive thing that came out of that frustrating ordeal is that I started looking for similar bags or at least bags with a similar vibe. What is the vibe? It's spring/summer friendly of course and it's also 100 percent basic bitch because literally EVERYONE is going to be rocking a pink or pastel bag this season--that's literally all I see available on shopping sites, Instas and blogs.  Most importantly, the pastel bag is very trainwreck Mary Kate (you all know the pastel green Balenciaga moment I'm referring to) and so therefore it finally has to happen in my wardrobe.

My top pastel selections so far are Alexander Wang's mini Marti bag in powder pink and one of Coach 1941's Frame bags. With the Wang bag, it reminds me of this leather bag that I used to lust after about 15 years ago on Urban Outfitter's site. I can't even remember the brand, but it was a convertible backpack style bag with lots of pockets in a really pretty soft leather (the kind the description detailed as "buttery soft" ugh, I will never forget that bag). I remember patiently sitting through the rickety squealing of the dial up connection just to simply look at that bag that retailed for around $300, an astronomical sum for a teenage dishwasher. This particular Marti bag is currently on sale for around twice that amount and may or may not be sold out by the time I post this.

My other pastel selection was actually the first thing that caught my attention after searching "pink bag" on Shopbop. I'm not going to go into too much detail on this post, but I have to say Coach is really out here killing the game with these quirky yet super demure kisslock bags (definitely going to take a closer look later).

Although I have my eye fixed on pastels, I'm also open to plain white--after all pastel is simply any color mixed with white and a white bag is so classic spring/summer...

My top white selections so far include mostly Balenciaga picks and another Coach pick. I'm not sure if that white Givenchy Antigona will come back in stock, but if it does, there's a very VERY good chance that might be IT...or maybe not who knows? That cream city bag is both a pastel and a white and could probably transition well into fall, maybe that's IT? I feel like I wouldn't even be in this dilemma if I had just pulled the trigger on that square triangle bag that actually was sitting in Net-a-porter's past fall sale (that bright pink interior was just too cute I don't know why I passed it up). If I don't end up picking something from Demna's direction, I will probably pick something from Coach's new collection...or maybe Givenchy will do a Pandora bag in white? WHO. KNOWS.

Despite my ambivalence, this post has literally helped me resolve so many issues. Now that I really think about it, that Coach bag is damn near perfect, the Wang bag would be amazing for travel and the idea of a pristine, crisp white bag is so refreshing to me and such a timeless vibe--honestly, I have no clue why I wanted anything to do with that stupid ass JC pink bag in the first place even though leather quilting is like the HOTTEST FUCKING TREND RIGHT NOW as if Chanel didn't make it a thing I have no idea why people are treating it like it's brand new because it's not BUT I STILL WANT IT BUT NOT A CHANEL BAG WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME.

I'm probably not going to make a decision until mid-April or later because a lot of summer collections are still being released so stay tuned for another episode of Is That My Next Bag And Will It Solve My Problems?
