I think I was just too depressed to even bring myself to edit these months ago or maybe too anxious? I would get dressed, go outside then be all worn out just from that, take a nap, wake up, eat, sleep again eventually and rinse repeat and basically forget that I even took the photos to post in the first place...

I really REALLY love this Acne Studios shearling, it is an absolute DREAM. I went back and forth on whether to buy it in Net a porters final days of their last sale and decided it would be a nice upgrade from the navy blue velocite one I've had for several years now. Speaking of Net a porter sales--WHERE IS IT??? I've been watching videos about how the luxury fashion industry is adapting to the shutdown and it seems it also could mean certain brands might be too broke for sales? Seasonal sales are going on right now to encourage people to start buying again (as we should), but Net a porter is stalling a bit. It could also be a fear-based action because they wouldn't be able to handle the increase of orders given that less people are employed at their order fulfillment areas now. Maybe production has stopped on so many new season items that the fear is that if there is a sale and everything sells out, nothing will be left? It could be all of those things combined as this shutdown has disrupted such an intrinsic balance in the world economy. 

Furthermore, the idea of seasonless fashion is intriguing to me...does this mean a new mentality when it comes to consumerism? Will having less start to mean more? Or maybe the secondhand market will now take on an elevated platform...or even the counterfeit market? Maybe less cycles of new looks but more new looks within each cycle? If luxury fashion becomes scarce, will the price go up even more? Will trendy fashion suddenly cease to exist altogether as that middle market spender realizes it's just a bunch of needless crap anyway??

I mean, it's HUMAN to want to feel and look better because it appeals to our psychological need to fit in or belong or be accepted. People want THINGS because of the transformative power in material possessions. When you are in possession of something of value, YOU have value inherently....that's what all those rappers from 'da hood' keep going on and on about. 

...and now we are living in an age where it's okay to tell someone they are 'non-essential'...as in they don't have any value or as much value as another person. 

Given all of that, I think Chanel made the right move to increase their bag prices. Prices are based on demand and scarcity...but mostly demand...will people now start demanding to be considered valuable hence the consumerism for luxury fashion will ramp up even more...maybe??

The economic analysis of the fashion during the 2008 crash was pretty clear cut and there weren't nearly as many questions, but now we have power-hungry politicians thrown in, a lot of fear and confusion and inevitably, growing anger making it even more difficult to see any real answers.

42 minutes of outside

I got all ready to run errands around town and ended up walking around for almost an hour doing nothing because everything was closed at some random early hour or had been shut down completely...at least I didn't have to wear a mask.

...less homeless, more western. I've finally broken in these new two-tone cowboy boots from Ganni and I plan on wearing them until 'I can't no mo' ok. I feel like this particular boot trend was given an extension in popularity thanks to that one rhinestone cowboy one-hit wonder. 

I also plan on making use out of my Phillip Lim cropped leather jacket that I've had for at least a year now. It's so lightweight, yet so substantial, perfect for those cool fall days where you might need a sweatshirt but also don't want to look like a total slob. Speaking of sweats, my Juicy Couture wardrobe that I've managed to acquire before the company completely folds on itself (there is literally NOTHING TO BUY on that website it's actually kind of hilarious) will be making frequent appearances this season; this one is my matching silver velour set. 

With accessories I'm still left wanting...

I'm super happy with this oversized black patent leather tote from Acne despite hunting for something more colorful (they actually came out with a different version of this bag literally a decade ago or something, it was embossed and everything and so pretty and I was too poor to even THINK about buying it). I've spruced up its minimal design with a Fendi bag strap I found in a Myteresa sale and a Balenciaga key chain I've wanted for a few seasons from the Net a Porter sale. Hopefully before the season is over I can collect a few more items of interest namely the ever-evading pink bag. The sales better be good this year.

I remember when I wanted the longer version of this sweater and then it sold out and so I decided to get this one because I was acting fake broke and didn't want to splurge on the actual Celine one some pretty white girl (Gigi, Hailey? I don't know anymore) was wearing in that photo on Pinterest. 

It actually stayed on the bottom of the beige pile for a minute, but now I can't stop wearing it. It's the perfect midweight fiber blend for this crispy weather and despite my socks, it makes me look well-to-do. Magical.

...I guess I can bear the unnecessary comments and totally unwanted photos from random people for a little while longer...I just don't feel like wearing anything else when there's a foot of snow on the ground.

...had to do some last minute grocery shopping, which wasn't nearly as hectic as I thought it would be. Tomorrow I'm going to attempt to be more festive than my hat.

 ...the open toe area is wider than what I'm used to, exposing four toes instead of just three so it's actually super comfy, no blisters...

....and the 2.75 inch block heel feels like a wedge.

 I decided to style them with a dress I bought two years ago and never wore...I feel like this outfit makes me look like I actually give a shit about people's opinions or something...

 ...so prim and proper--this dress was doing the most especially considering the crochet trend is so passé.

 

...it got a little breezy later in the day so I put some pants on (by Acne); even more considerate.

...okay the spending ban is back on so let's pretend this never happened.

 

2015 spring style round up

...the results of my attempt at being minimalist luxe--you can kind of see it given the neutral colors and the repetition of some of my favorite pieces including my Simone Rocha shearling bag, my Eugina Kim alpaca hat and so much Acne Studios I deserve a sponsorship.

Many of the items seen are not available anymore and I'm not a good enough fashion blogger to like, list suggestions all nice and neat like some of these other girls who have their shit together, but if you have any questions leave it in the comments and I'll do my best to pretend I know what I'm talking about.
