Nail Art | Matte Cheer

image
I recently read an article on xovain.com about "pick-me-up nail polish" and given my rather petulant disposition, I was intrigued by the idea...yeah, I'm kind of a Debby Downer sometimes, but I do believe in "happy colors" and the psychological effect they have.

I was inspired by the few days of glorious spring weather that has finally arrived and the new tuning point in my life; I wanted the look to symbolize a new bloom of positivity...ironically, I finished the manicure the day it decided to rain. Nevertheless, after looking at my nails all day, I'm already starting to feel better about the crappy peninsula known as Michigan.

Nail Art | "I don't approve of smoking..."

I've always appreciated the unpredictable nature of becoming inspired. After spending a couple weeks with bare nails, I came across this photo on my Tumblr dash and was finally moved to create something fresh. I really like the minimalist double paint brush swipes and I definitely see more usage of them in the future.

Nail Art | Nicki Minaj Realness

I think watching Nicki Minaj's E! Network special "My Truth" has had a bit of an influence on my nail art designs. While her bold image often approaches (and sometimes achieves) tackiness, she still makes me want to copy something she's wearing whether it's her wigs, shoes or what-ever. Much like the pieces in some of Nicki's ensembles, this nail art design basically matches absolutely nothing and I thought about taking them off and starting over more than a few times after I was done painting them (she's apparently very indecisive when she puts her looks together as well).  Nevertheless, the more I look at them, the more I like them...the same goes for Nicki's street style and red carpet looks.
